FP7 Call Information

NET4SOCIETY offers a collection of links to find EU FP7 funding opportunities in the field of Socio-economic Sciences & Humanities.

The call for Theme 8 (SSH) was published on July 20, 2011. Official information sources on the 7th EU Framework Programme (FP7) funding opportunities are (from 2011) the Research Participant Portal and EUROPA - the server of DG Research, the directorate responsible for research. Please consult the Research Participant Portal to receive the official call documents.

Research projects in the Socio-Economic Sciences and Humanities are funded by the European Commission in Theme 8 of the Specific Programme "Cooperation". Usually once a year, the funding topics are published in the "Call for proposals". Researchers can apply for funding within a set time of mostly 6-7 months in which they can prepare their proposal for funding of a research project.

The Call for proposals always covers eight general areas, with different more specified "topics" each year. It follows a top-down approach, so proposals must address the given topics.

NET4SOCIETY collects funding opportunities for SSH researchers in other work programmes in the yearly publication "Opportunities for researchers in socio-economic sciences and humanities", which includes topics with SSH relevance of other calls in the Specific Programmes "Cooperation", "Ideas", "People", and "Capacities".

Widening the view of research opportunities for SSH researchers by presenting SSH research opportunities in other Themes of FP7, as well as within other European programmes with SSH relevance, will give the “big picture” of SSH related Calls and Topics in FP7 specific programmes. The Social Sciences and Humanities have a broad thematic focus and a diversity of topics they relate to. Topics and areas where social scientists, and humanists are either explicitly sought or can offer their expertise to a project can be found in many Themes of FP7 and related initiatives (ERA-NETs, JTIs, Article 169 initiatives, and Joint Programming Initiatives).
